Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have to own an Appaloosa to show?
No. All horses and riders are welcome to show with PNW Show Services. While our events are proudly sponsored by local Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) groups and include classes that offer National ApHC points, you do not need to own an Appaloosa to participate.
Horses of all breeds are eligible to compete in open classes and are fully eligible for prizes, awards, and open class circuit buckles. Our goal is to create fun, inclusive horse shows that welcome everyone—regardless of breed.
If you have any questions about class eligibility, we’re always happy to help!
What is the proper attire for the show?
Attire depends on the class you are competing in. We encourage exhibitors to dress neatly, appropriately, and in a way that reflects the discipline they are showing.
Halter Classes:
Well-fitting jeans, a western or crisp button-down shirt, cowboy hat, belt, and boots are recommended. Show suits are also welcome.Hunter In-Hand:
Khakis or breeches paired with a button-down shirt or polo are suggested. Show jackets and English boots are also acceptable.Ranch Riding/ Riding Classes:
Attire should be practical, clean, and traditional Western wear that reflects a working rancher. This typically includes a long-sleeved Western shirt, jeans, and boots. Hats or an approved helmet are required, depending on the discipline and rider preference.
Above all, attire should be safe, clean, and suitable for the class you are showing. If you have questions about a specific class, please feel free to reach out.
Will There be stalls available to rent at each show?
Yes, stalls are available to rent at our show facilities. Please note that each facility is different, and stall availability, setup, and pricing may vary. Specific stall information and pricing will be listed on each individual show page, so be sure to check the details for the event you plan to attend.
Do I need a membership to compete?
Membership requirements vary by class. ApHC classes require an ApHC membership for the handler/owner and horse registration number to earn national points, while Open classes do not require breed membership. Please refer to the ApHC handbook for more specific information regarding membership and ownership rules. Specific requirements will be listed in each show’s prize list.
